What
to expect during your AIS session:
For your AIS session, wear comfortable clothing that you can move
and stretch in such as shorts and T-shirt. We will take a moment
to discuss lifestyle and goals, conduct a postural assessment
and test range of motion. As we begin the stretch session, you
will receive gentle assistance as you learn to perform the AI
Stretching techniques. We have divided the sessions into protocols
for upper body including neck, shoulder, wrists and hand and lower
body including hip, legs, and feet. All sessions include stretching
of the back, side body and trunk and strengthen the core which
is necessary for flexibility. A full body stretch covering all
protocols including hands and feet takes about 2.5 hours. Shorter
sessions of one or one and a half hours can focus on specific
areas with typically a focus on either upper or lower body. Stretches
are performed standing, seated, and lying down.
Sessions are both therapeutic and educational. The recipient will
learn how to stretch specific areas which may be be chronically
tight or injured.
Below is an approximate breakdown to give you an idea of how long
each protocol lasts:
neck: 25 minutes
shoulders: 35 minutes
wrists and hands: 25 minutes
hips and legs: 60 minutes +
feet and ankle: 25 minutes
